Smile

Nothing is more brilliant
Than the human smile

A significant expression
That expresses joy
And connection in
The human condition

Shared between
Loves
Friends
Family
Complete strangers

The radiance of
The human smile
Has a glow that
Outshines the sun

Those who are truly
Alive know
The Value of the smile
And grin frequently

I will smile at you
Naturally you will
Smile back

Joy is our most
Pure form

The littlest among you
Know this truth
As their faces show

Smile and the world
Smiles with you
Its only natural

Let it shine
Like the heavens above
You are a piece
Of natural love

I am going to smile
Each day
I wont allow them
To take it away

Here is my smile
That tells you
I love you

Airport Delivery

17 hours of flight time
Feeling the freedom of VFR
I have touched the skies

Light bulbs at the airport
That familiar smell of
Exhaustion and excitement

The hugs embrace as
Experience gives way
To loss and gain

I love this place
A purgatory of
Human beingness

A feeling of escape
Of adventure
Of life and pain

Hop onto the next plane
And find yourself
In some strange land

I don’t have a boarding pass
Driving away
Welcome to Utah
I have more lights
To deliver

Friday Poem

The day of the week
Gives bounce to steps
The cheerful worker can relax

7 hours on the road
Blissfully watching TV
As the music is pounded into me

Liquid protein for lunch
Walking around the tools
That give neighbors the means
To kill other neighbors

 Love the sound they make
As gravity is suspended
The lift drag ratio exceeded

Rushing around
The yellow of the clip board
Giving purpose and way
NPR telling me what may
A simple driver I am

Give us 4 billion years
When our galaxy’s merge
Intertwining the center
Into a new pattern
With a new shape and splendor

Potential field trip
The cone of the engine
An engineering feat
It does inspire

Planes in my game room
Will be in my classroom
I sit and drift off
I want to make a difference
It’s a life style

Mosquito

The echo howls through halls

While a question is purposely ignored

Trying to keep face

While strangers listen to problems

A simple solution would be simple

However non existent

As the words contained herein

Are deep and meaningless

Finding fulfillment in the mundane

Distraction of movies and sound

Driving lights to the population

To brighten their day without smile

A jogger that is too full to run

Is bitten by misquotes to feed their young

Books that must be read

And lectures that must be addressed

When will the energy come

To soundly rest?

This meaningless poem

Finds its way to the internet

To a blog

To your computer

And if the poet is any good

Into your thoughts

 And once into your thoughts

Assuming the poem is any good

Which we know is not

Will you not eat its content?

And if you do not drink of its meaning

What is the purpose behind the words?

May be the poet is just full of hypocrisy

And like the mosquito

He feeds it to his young

Sunday Morning Anxiety

NO INHALATION

BREATHING OF LABOR AND LITTLE

OF DRAGONS SMOTHERING IN FIERY SMOKE

NERVES SHAKING

LIKE ORANGE WAR TORN HANDS

OF SOLDIERS SMILING WITH DEATH

THE DESTRUCTION OF THE HOMELAND

CONFUSION OF KNOWING

WHAT YOU WANT TO DO

WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT TO DO

THE ABILITY TO WAGE A HAZARDESS LIFE STYLE

THE TRAIN SPEEDS EVER

FASTER AND FASTER

WITH NO DESTENATION JUST

A RUSH FOR arrival

ARRIVAL SHALL NEVER arrive

THE DEEPENING LOSS OF

CONSTRICTED LUNGS SHALL GIVE WAY

TO MEDIOCRITY AND HARSHNESS

THE ARM PITS BURN

WITH EXPECTATIONS

DESIRE AND DREAD

SOON IT IS TIME TO LISTEN

STOP DREAMING

CONDITIONED TO  FOLLOW ORDERS

AND GET TO WORK

Bleeding Time

Nervous shakes

Murphy’s law

Why cant we all

Just get along?

Past on watches

Still ticking away

The seconds that give

To the end of the day

Hurting bones

And cracked lips

What will it take

To get a chocolate chip?

Broken parts

And lost art

Cant I get a minute

to release this worrywart

Time bleeds away

Any hope to fall

The delayed decay

That will consume us all

I pray to you

The god behind the church

That we may all get through

This without too much hurt

Existential Crises

It can’t be a midlife crises
Expiring at fifty two
I hope I have something to offer
to you

What to present the world?
What value to bring to your life?
What gifts may I wrap?

What is the significance?
The purpose behind the living?
The light in the shadows?
The godhead becoming?

Finding meaning and purpose
A life quest
Dead in the grave
What shall I leave behind?

To be or not to be?
Am I or am I not?
To live or to not?
There are many robots

Is it enough to be a good person
Nice to all that you can be?

Is it enough to live every day to its fullest
To have a worth while experience every minute?

Is it enough to understand?
There truly is no point?
The universe is not personal?

Is god truly dead?
Or are we the aged and decrepit?
Unable to feel
Too fat to swim
To hooked to move

I am a blip
So fast yet infinite
Is there an echo?

Pain and pleasure
Disgust and beauty
Damage and revitalization
I hope I didn’t wound you

Asserting existence
The land of should
Has fallen away

The dragon has been cut
Its scales shed
The camel births a lion

Falling down
Up and sideways
Drowning into
The bright center

Is there a difference between
Destiny and catastrophe?
Is it that individual?
Or is it reflection?

Narcissistic manifestation
I can’t stand hypocrites
I pray to god
I am to deaf to hear an answer

Teach me how
To be like you
Follow every rule
Bursting bubbles in the hall
With no room to hear the fall
Can you help me?

I am not my wear
I am not my body
My body is the temple
Of my essence

If you are to judge me
Judge me by my smile
The brown glair of my being

If I am to judge you
I hate to judge you
I am a hypocrite

What I Believe in

I believe in wakening up on Saturday mornings
With nothing to do
But to feel the cold breeze
From an open window
While feeling the warmth of your own body
Under the lavender scented blanket

I believe in sunshine
The warmth and light
That warms your body
Enlightens your heart
And feeds your soul

I believe in the food of music
I eat it up
An album is like a banquet
Every note a different flavor
To be devoured and savored

I believe in human connection
The desire to truly know someone
To share who you are with another
To be there for one and other
Through bliss and pain
Through sun and rain

I believe in perfection that is not perfect
That life is truly wonderful
That suffering and pain
Make way to luminous days
That our darkest moments
Will make or break us

I believe in destiny that is shaped by free will
That our path is
 Like a colorless coloring book
It is up to us to choose which crayons to paint the picture

I believe in education
To try to understand
All that you can understand
Knowing that you can truly understand
Nothing

I believe in the human condition
The unsure self becoming aware
Of its self
And of others
And the relationship it is with
Each other, the world, and the universe

I believe in you
In being your self
The candle shining its light
Illuminating the darkness around it
Not afraid to be who you are
Giving others the taste of your individuality
So that they can find their own individuality
We are like a symphony
We must play our own melody
That is in harmony with the whole
